Brooke Hines
7th Grade Math Teacher
Hi family and friends, As some of you may know, I have started my journey with teach for America in Mississippi. While I was not sure about my placement in Mississippi prior to coming, I could not be more thrilled to be here in a place where they need us teachers the most. So far, it has been an incredible journey. Right now I am teaching summer school, 7th grade math, at quitman county middle school. My experience so far has been way better than I could have imagined. The kids are so smart and so willing to learn, it's truly incredible. As everything is going well with my kids, I've noticed my resources are limited. Although I hate asking for money, I would like to say I'm asking for my kids. I have had to pay for a lot of supplies already to support my students learning and this is just summer school. I want to give my kids the best school experience with the resources that they deserve. I'm asking if you could please donate what you can, the money will all go towards school supplies and giving my students the resources they need to be successful ❤️ I appreciate everyone who donates!!

SPED services give students with disabilities access to curriculum and academic strategies that are vital to their success. This work is my heart and soul. It is an important job and I am beyond thankful for this opportunity to help my kiddos succeed! Starting a classroom from scratch is not easy. Some materials are provided, but beyond the basics there will be much I will need to purchase out of pocket. Please consider helping my vision become a reality for the 2017-2018 school year. Every cent donated will go to my classroom! You contribution is greatly appreciated, both from me and my kids!

Michelle Vidrine
5th Grade Teacher
After completing Teach for America’s - 2017 Milwaukee Institute I will be responsible for my very own classroom! I can't wait to decorate and meet my students and their families. One of the biggest challenges that students in high need schools face is a lack of the necessary materials that are needed daily. It makes it infinitely more difficult for students to take part in activities and classwork when they do not have basic supplies. To get the year started off right, I will use the funds that I raise to purchase the startup supplies needed to welcome my students to a classroom that is clean and stocked full with materials. This will allow me to provide the required supplies to students that otherwise would not have them. Thank you so much in advance for supporting me and my students at the beginning of this exciting journey. PledgeCents allows me to keep whatever I raise, so anything you can contribute really will make a difference for my first year. I want to make a great impression and a lasting impact on my first group of students and letting them know that they have a community that supports them both near and far will definitely get us on the right track. Here is a complete list of the materials that your generous investment will help provide for the students of my very first classroom:
Ajeya Woods
7th Grade Reading Teacher
I teach at an urban charter school located in West Dallas, TX. The young adults I am lucky enough to call my scholars amaze me every day with their ingenuity, tenacity and brilliance. Over 91% of scholars at my school are eligible for free lunch and a similar percentage are English Language learners. My scholars show up everyday ready to learn without any excuses. I am inspired by the commitment to education that my scholars and their families display despite long commutes, lack of resources and extraneous conditions. I speak for the community I serve when I say that support in any way shape or form is much appreciated and will be utilized to its fullest.

Sofia Roque
3rd Grade Teacher
As some of you know, in less than a month, I will be stepping into the classroom with a bunch of cute little third graders as my time with Teach For America continues. I can’t wait to meet my kiddos and their families. I want so badly to be the teacher they both deserve. I will be working at BakerRipley, a school in the Gulfton area of Houston which serves an incredibly diverse population (it is characterized by its large refugee population)! My kids specifically will be all English Language Learners but since they come from all over the world, they will bring in a number of languages into the classroom. To be the best teacher I can be, I will need to make my classroom an environment where kids WANT to and CAN learn. For English language learners especially, visuals placed all over my room and specialized materials are in high need. I plan to buy these materials with my own funds since they are so specialized (I need to figure out what will work best for my students after I meet them), but I could really use some help with the ‘essential’ materials for my classroom. That is what I’m asking for your help with. Please trust me when I say that what is happening at BakerRipley and in the Gulfton community is BEAUTIFUL. These kids (and this community) deserve the world. From the short time I have spent there, I can tell the community flourishes through passion, love, and diversity. I cannot wait to join the community and be a part of that movement. To do this, I am asking for your help. The cost of supplies is very high. With your donations (however big or small) I will be able to stock my room up with materials and be ready for my kids when they walk into school on the first day. Thank you so much in advance for supporting my kids, BakerRipley, Teach For America, the Gulfton community, and of course, me. I can’t wait to continue sharing the changes I see in the community and the funny things that happen in class with my little ones. Here is a complete list of the materials that your generous investment will help provide for the students of my very first classroom. Below is a complete list of the materials I will buy for my very first classroom (eek!) thanks to your generosity:

Stephanie Yin
6th Grade Math Teacher
Hi friends! For those who don't know, I will be starting off my teaching journey at Ranson IB Middle School in just FOUR short weeks! I am SO excited to set up my classroom and get to know all of my students and their families. Please consider donating to my campaign to help me purchase essential materials for my very first classroom! I'm really excited to bring a lot of the energy and support my teachers brought to me as a student, while continuing to bring in new ideas from some really awesome people who are in the urban education field. However, to really give my students the support they deserve, I need to have a classroom filled with supplies, which can be expensive. I would appreciate any help y'all can give--even if only a couple dollars--to help my students have access to a quality education regardless of where their school is located. Thank you so much in advance, and, if you're interested, I would gladly accept any advice from others in education and would love to tell more about my new job teaching, just feel free to message me! :-)
Blanca De Haro
Elementary school Special Education teacher
Hello everyone my name is Blanca De Haro and I am a first year teacher! I will be teaching in a Title 1 school this fall and will be working with students with special needs. I want my classroom to be interactive, inclusive, and nurturing.
Joseph Greenberg
5th Grade
Joe is a recent graduate of Oberlin College, where he earned High Honors for his African Studies thesis on systemic racism in the United States. As a first year teacher, there are many classroom supplies that he needs, but does not yet have. This is where PledgeCents comes in. With your help, Joe can buy the necessary materials to help his students reach their goals and grow as learners and leaders. Reason for Teaching: When I was a young kid I lacked an appreciation for reading, writing, and my education as a whole. This passion did not develop until college, when I could choose to learn about the topics that I was interested in. Only then did I truly engage in the material at hand. My Africana Studies professors developed my appreciation for history – allowing me to add context to the current events I saw everyday. Seeing the information I was learning apply to the real world gave me a newfound appreciation for history and, more generally, education. This is why I went to Mississippi; I want to give my students the same appreciation that I gained later in my education through history. Everyday, I reflect upon how lucky I was to have a community that pushed me to work in school, despite my disinterest. Moreover, I was privileged enough to have the resources in elementary, middle, and high schools to learn the material that was being taught. Some of my students will have that community, some may not. Either way, they deserve the same resources that I had, with a teacher who will be there for them as a teacher, mentor, and engaged community member every step of the way. This is why I am asking for your donations: you can help me build my classroom and, by doing so, allow me to strengthen the relationships I have with my students to grow their minds.

I have dedicated my life to further education for all. Please help in any way you can! This will go towards creating social and economic change in our country and beyond!
Austin Jenkins
Teacher
I am beginning my teaching career at a charter school in Indianapolis, IN. A stark reality for most of my students, and students across the country, is that they simply do not come to school with the necessary materials to be successful. This ranges from pencils and paper to materials teachers require for their individual classrooms. I am setting this up to try to level that field for students in my classroom who may not be able to afford basic school supplies.
Catherine Ticzon
Bilingual Kindergarten Teacher
This coming fall, I will be teaching Bilingual (Spanish) Kindergarten at Moss Elementary School in Fort Worth, TX. I want to create meaningful classroom experiences for my students and provide them with the basic supplies needed to help them succeed academically. Because of the shortage of resources, I will likely be given little to no funding to purchase start-up supplies for my kids. The lack of economic resources is already a struggle in the community that I will be working in, and I don't want that to continue to be the case in the classroom. I've started this PledgeCents fundraiser to see if I could get some support from my community. I want to make the classroom an enriching space for my students and I would appreciate any support. Unfortunately, I do not have enough of my own resources to afford all my necessary supplies for my kids which is why I'm reaching out. Thank you so much for any support! Here's a list of what your donations can buy for my classroom: $5 = markers for the class $15 = construction paper for the whole year $20 = poster paper to make anchor charts

I am so excited to meet my kids on day one and I want everything to be perfect for them. Having completed a 6-week training with Teach for America in Miami, I quickly realized the privilege of a precious resource that many often take for granted: classroom supplies!! Depending on your school classroom materials can be viewed as an expectation, but all too often this is a right that never fully reaches our students. My kids deserve the best of the best and that's where I need your help! Any and every donation is so incredibly important to helping create a supportive and successful classroom for my students that will drive them on the path to success. You will be a part of helping my young scientists start off the year with the tools they need. Thank you for being a part of our mission: that one day we will live in a world where every child has access to equal educational opportunities. But above all, thank you for choosing to help prepare and empower my kids!
Stephanie Ramirez
8th grade Math
I am a born and raised Boston resident. Growing up in the Boston Public School system was a journey that built me to be the educator I am today. Coming from a low-income bilingual household and attending a school that was low on textbooks impacts my opinion on how important materials are to be successful. I decided that I needed to challenge the youth to not only be successful in my classroom but in society. I was able to return to my community through Teach For America and touch the hearts of students growing up in the same neighborhood.

I am a first year teacher with Teach For America. I will be teaching ESL to 9th and 11th graders at Cordova High School in Memphis, TN. I believe that every child deserves a choice. All children should be given an education that sets them up so when they are graduating from high school they can go to college, technology school or enter the work force. The key is that they are set up to make that choice.

In May 2019, I graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor of science in biology and two minors in chemistry and international studies. Shortly after graduation, I began my journey with Teach for America at the Atlanta Summer Institute where I underwent intense training and leadership development. Starting in August, I will teach environmental science in the Freshman Academy at Benjamin Banneker High School in south Atlanta. I remember the moment when I first learned about humanity's destruction of the environment - I was in third grade on a bus heading to a Camp Classen. Ever since then, I have been conscious about how my actions affect our Earth, and I do my best to lower my carbon footprint. Needless to say, I am beyond thrilled to share this passion with my students.

I am an upcoming teacher eager to guide students in Reading and Writing for the fourth grade! This will be my first year teaching in the fall and I can not anticipate the moment that i can finally begin my journey with my scholars! I am a product of the unfortunate lack of educational resources. Therefore, that is how I stumbled across Teach For America whose mission is to have equity for all children one day. We shared devotion to educational equity and that alone created a strength in the movement for change and my commitment to Dallas, Texas. My passion for equity began when I encountered children within my own community, in New Jersey, who expressed through their actions a crave of education but yet a sense of hopelessness due to the lack of resources. Immediately, I fell in love with this career path and wanted the best for all students which lead me to join Teach For America! Furthermore, I have a genuine dedication to build a strong community within my classroom. I will use the funds to provide the general such as teaching supplies, books, in- class activities and maybe even technology to encourage the manipulation of minds as well as having a great environment. Overall, any dollar amount is greatly appreciated and will be used towards my classroom supplies!

7th and 8th grade Social Studies Teacher
Hello! Thank you for visiting this page. I will be a first year teacher in the great city of Baltimore where I have the privilege of teaching 7th and 8th grade social studies. In July, I had the honor of teaching a fantastic group of students in summer school where, unfortunately, I became privy to the financial burden teachers have in order to have all of the supplies they need. So, I come to you---humble and grateful---asking you to make a contribution of any size to my classrooms for this upcoming school year. With your support, no student will have to worry about where they will write, what they will write with, or what literature they'll have access to. Furthermore, they will be proud of the classroom they'll be obliged to spend so much time in. Thank you for your thoughtful consideration!

The 20-21 school year was a nightmare -for myself, my colleagues, but most importantly my students. My kids missed out on many educational opportunities last year and experienced emotional and mental stress like they’ve never experienced before. This year, I want to help my students get back in the classroom and LOVE it there. Even though school was not the same last year, we made the most of it. This year, I want to do better. I want my students to love school again. If you can donate to my classroom to give my kiddos the comeback they deserve, we will be so grateful. All proceeds go directly to funding my classroom to give my students the educational opportunities that will open doors for them. Help support my kids by donating to my classroom fund!
