Today a Reader, Tomorrow a Leader!

The Description

COVID and virtual learning have made it more difficult for teachers to motivate students when it comes to consistently completing schoolwork to the best of their ability. I am pushing students to continue giving their full effort throughout these last couple of months of a tumultuous school year! With these funds, I will purchase resources and rewards to help our students engage with our literacy platforms.

Some of my students need headphones or new laptop chargers to successfully continue in virtual learning. Our primary reading platform is digital, so it's critical that we provide all of the resources they need to use the technology.

Beyond the technicalities of completing the work, I'm aiming to make this school year fun! As challenging as this year has been for adults, it has been just as tumultuous (if not more) for our students. They're not also able to feel the same joy, engagement, and energy through a laptop screen. I have been providing virtual rewards to our students who are struggling with motivation and it has made all the difference! Even a $5 gift card to Chipotle or a new book mailed to their house will change their entire mood and attitude towards school!

As we approach the standardized testing season and the end of the school year, it is crucial that we maintain this momentum! Our students need to continue closing gaps and making up for losses throughout this pandemic. I'll be using these funds to provide materials (headphones, chargers, water bottles, etc.) to the students who need them and incentives to all of our students, in-person and online! We're going to bring the joy these last couple of months and set these kiddos up for success!! Any amount is greatly appreciated and will make a difference.

Example purchases:

10 pack of headphones - $50

Chromebook charger: $20

Food/groceries gift card: $15-30

Case of water - $5

Novel/book: $10

Student choice gift card (Chipotle, ice cream, etc.) - $5-10

Bulk bag of assorted snacks - $30

Bulk bag of assorted candy - $15

Back Up Plan

If we do not reach our goal I will purchase as many materials as possible. I will prioritize the materials that are most essential to students to ensure that they can participate, but I would not be able to provide many rewards or incentives to spark joy and motivation in our students.
