Every Kid Needs a Champion!

The Description

Last summer someone told me that, "It takes a village to raise a child. It is selfish to do this work on your own." So, I am choosing to be courageous and asking for your help in getting kids from where they are, to where they need to be. I am in this work so that I can have a front-row seat to students’ success and ask that you join me in the front lines by donating to my classroom this year.

One of the most challenging parts about being an English Language Arts teacher is nurturing a love for reading. One way I wish to do this is by expanding my classroom library!

Every $10 donation could purchase a new book for a child in my classroom!

If there's anything I learned this past year during my first year teaching, it's that I wasn't alone in this work and the race towards student achievement. As Rita Pierson mentioned in the video, every child needs a champion. I wish to do this through nurturing a love for literacy. Join me in championing students!

Every dollar I receive will be put towards classroom supplies so anything you can contribute really will make a difference. I want my students to know that they have a community that supports them both near and far. Please consider supporting me prayerfully and or financially.

Every little bit counts!

Back Up Plan

If I do not meet my goal, I will purchase as many materials as possible. I will prioritize the materials that are most essential to students (pencils, paper, etc.) as they are the most important to ensuring that students can participate in daily lessons.

About the Creator

I am excited to be a part of the TFA family and join the movement to solve education inequity in this country and provide all students with a quality education. I'm fortunate enough to be selected from a nationwide talent applicant pool to join a teacher corps comprised of leaders who commit a minimum of two years to teach in high need public schools. This summer I will be participating in an intensive skill and knowledge development program aiming to increase student achievement as well as a comprehensive professional development program including seminars, discussion groups, workshops, and content and professional learning communities specific to teaching license areas. I can't wait for my first year with Teach for America.
