Building The Foundation: Startup Classroom Supplies

The Description

As a teacher, I am responsible for my very own classroom! I engage daily with my students and their families, and it is my responsibility to ensure that my classroom is a welcoming environment for everyone. One of the biggest challenges is making sure that all of my students have the materials they need to participate in class daily. This is especially important at the beginning of the school year when we set the tone for how important it is for everyone to be a part of our classroom community.

To get the year started off right, I will use the funds that I raise to purchase the supplies needed to welcome my students back to their classroom that is clean and stocked full of materials. This will allow me to provide the required supplies to students that otherwise would not have them. I will also purchase copy paper to ensure that I can provide my students with high-quality learning materials, whether that is exit tickets, independent activities, or homework.

Every dollar I receive will be put towards classroom supplies so anything you can contribute really will make a difference in our classroom. As always, I want to make a great impression and a lasting impact on my group of students and letting them know that they have a community that supports them both near and far will definitely get us on the right track.

With these funds I will purchase...

1) PENCILS! LOTS OF PENCILS

2) Math Journals for All of My Students

3) Expo Markers

4) A Brand New Pencil Sharpener

5) Folders

6) CHART PAPER, LOTS OF CHART PAPER

7) Math Books to Enhance Our Math Library

8) PAPER, LOTS OF PAPER

AND SO MUCH MORE...

The most important thing to remember is that these supplies won't just last us for a couple months. They will last the entire year, saving hours of instructional time.

Back Up Plan

If we do not reach our goal I will purchase the most pressing materials first, like pencils, paper, and math journals.

About the Creator

I am excited to be a part of the TFA family and join the movement to solve education inequity in this country and provide all students with a quality education. I'm fortunate enough to be selected from a nationwide talent applicant pool to join a teacher corps comprised of leaders who commit a minimum of two years to teach in high need public schools. This summer I will be participating in an intensive skill and knowledge development program aiming to increase student achievement as well as a comprehensive professional development program including seminars, discussion groups, workshops, and content and professional learning communities specific to teaching license areas. I can't wait for my first year with Teach for America.
