About
T.A. Sims Elementary was dedicated in 1989 to help the growing populations in the east side of Fort Worth. Located in the Polytechnic Historical District, T.A. Sims Elementary serves a large Hispanic population of students. T.A. Sims Elementary is named after Theophlous Aaron Sims. Mr. Sims has served 25 years with Fort Worth. Our first principal was Dr. Shirlene Potts. She introduced the very successful Spanish Immersion Program to our students. This program allowed our non-native Spanish speakers to acquire the Spanish language verbally and in the written form. Each year the students and staff at T.A. Sims Elementary have moved forward with student academic success. We will continue to be true Brilliant Bulldogs and will maintain that fighting spirit. We are very proud to say that First United Methodist Church is a blessing to us in their continuing efforts to mentor and nurture the children in this school.
We strive to educate students and to assist them in realizing their full potential as responsible, productive, contributing members of society by providing an educational environment in which students are challenged, excellence is expected and differences are valued.
"Learning is not an option, it is an expectation."

My name is Jorgelina Marin and I am teaching a Dual Language Third Grade classroom. My goal is to provide my students with texts and books that reflect their identity. I wish to create a classroom around literacy where my students can develop a love for various types of literary works!
