About

Our little school is served by the Title 1 program and just received an award for academic excellence. We are all very hard workers (students and teachers alike!) who realize and help to impart the importance of education. We also won the Family Friendly School Award for the inviting and nurturing environment our entire school has. The school derives its personality and uniqueness from many sources: its rich heritage and tradition; its unique beach location across the street from the Atlantic Ocean; its goals for social, emotional and academic excellence for all; its outstanding parent and community involvement with many hours of volunteer service; its challenging academic program and its vision of leaving a legacy.

For the school year 2015-2016, St. Simons Elementary has 4-5 classrooms on each grade level, K-5. There is also one PreK classroom. We are proud of many vibrant support programs including Special Education, Early Intervention and ESOL Resource Teachers. Our gifted students are served in a classroom with a gifted-endorsed teacher using the state approved advanced content model.

Teacher

HI! I am a 2nd grade teacher in South Georgia. I love my job and I love teaching my students! I have always wanted to be a teacher and I feel that my dreams have come true with this job!

Kristin Bland

1st grade teacher

Welcome to our wonderful world of first grade! When you walk in our door the first thing you'll see are 22 precious smiling faces eager to begin a new day of learning! They are enthusiastic and inquisitive little people starving for all the knowledge their minds can absorb! Our little school is served by the Title 1 program and just received an award for academic excellence. We are all very hard workers (students and teachers alike!) who realize and help to impart the importance of education. We also won the Family Friendly School Award for the inviting and nurturing environment our entire school has. As a teacher, I couldn't be more honored to work in such an incredible place where I not only look forward to going each and every day, but where I am supported in my philosophy of teaching and encouraging the learning of the whole child.

Betsy Albright

First Grade Teacher

Hello! I am currently a first grade teacher in my eighteenth year of teaching. Simply put...I LOVE my job! I am surrounded by 23 smiling faces each day in our little school by the sea. Our classroom is filled with a diverse population where we all blend together to make one happy family.

Alecia Vinson

School Counselor

As an elementary school counselor, I strive to reach as many students as possible through classroom guidance, individual counseling and small group activities. I am in my second year and currently still building my office resources. I am excited to begin working with Pledge Cents so I can provide quality learn tools for my students.

Patti Strange

Second grade teacher

I am a second grade teacher at St. Simons Elementary School. This school is so special because we can see the ocean from our windows! I love teaching and have been in this profession for more than 30 years! I still love to come to work and see the smiling faces of my students.

Anne Cranz

English as a Second Language Teacher

I teach English as a Second Language in a small elementary school in southeast Georgia. We have about 70 students we serve in our program daily. We read amazing books about animals almost weekly. Sadly, most of these students have never seen these animals except for in the pages of a book. I want to give them the experience of going to the zoo. They need to see that giraffes, elephants, and zebras really do exist.

Kim Richardson

Teacher

I am a 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade math teacher. I love math. I eat, breath and sleep math. I love to use technology with my students and hands on manipulatives.

Nafi Espana

4th grade teacher

Hello! I am in my ninth year of teaching. I currently teach 4th grade at St. Simons Elementary. My students come from all backgrounds and abilities, ranging from Gifted to Special Education. Our school is a Title 1 School, meaning that a large percentage of students at our school receive Free and Reduced Lunch.

Mary Ann Pruett

Kindergarten teacher

I am a kindergarten teacher and I have decided to use flexible seating in my classroom. Although it is working very well I wanted to give the children an option of sitting in a scoop rocker chair to complete their work.
