We are more than a traditional elementary school. On any given day, Simonds students may be participating in Common Core State Standards (CCSS) instruction, using our mobile laptop or iPad carts with classroom teachers or in the Computer Lab, learning art history or creating projects with our Art Vistas parent volunteers; learning practical life skills with Junior Achievement volunteers or rehearsing a musical production or learning music notation with our full-time Music Teacher.
Simonds is a learning community where all students are inspired and prepared to succeed in a global society.

5th Grade Teacher
Hello, my name is Mrs. Hennessey and I am a 5th grade teacher at Simonds Elementary School. This is my fifth year teaching and I have loved every minute of it. I core teach with another teacher so I have the opportunity to see 64 eager to learn faces each day. My passions in teaching are providing students with the tools, spaces, and skills they need to succeed in the 21st century. I strongly believe that building a safe and supportive community in my classroom, and within our school is key to a student's success. I love teaching students how to work collaboratively, build a love of writing, and challenging students to reach their potential. I would use technology in the classroom every single day in every single lesson if I could. I feel so lucky to have a career that I love, that I can learn from it each day, and that I have the opportunity to change lives
