About

Our mission as a school is to use community partnerships, technology, and gifted educators to provide a nurturing learning environment, in addition to reengaging students to recover credits in order to achieve a high school diploma, and prepare students socially for life after high school. Today, MALC serves approximately 400 students from 6th to 12th grade. We have been labeled an “A” school by the AZ Dept. of Education and continue to provide a higher level of academic excellence each year. Our athletics program offers students the ability to participate in a number of different sports as a member of the AZ Charter Athletic Association. Our Credit Recovery program offers assistance to students who have fallen behind in their academics. Through independent study, classroom tutoring, and online learning, we help students make up credits at their own pace to get back on track or even graduate early. Our 9th graders participate in a mandatory Freshman Skills course that helps prepare them for life in high school and beyond. Study skills, character building, college prep, and vocational options are explored in a nurturing environment to foster success. All 9th and 10th grade students take a mandatory AIMS Prep course designed to prepare them for the State test. Since passing the AIMS test is a requirement for graduation in Arizona, this course is a valuable tool in preparing our students to obtain a diploma. Our teachers are certified, experienced, and highly qualified. We are a small high school with a caring staff and a family atmosphere. Our teachers and administrators take a personal interest in all our students and the results speak for themselves.

Art Teacher

I have the honor of seeing a child’s face they first time the see the magic that happens when yellow and blue make green. I have the privilege of showing them the genius of Michelangelo and the wonder of finger paint. I get to watch as they create mini masterpieces and for just a few moments their world is different. It is filled with beauty and possibilities. That little playdough dinosaur is an art project it is created with a hand, mind and heart. I want them to have something that they made to give or keep that is special and beautiful. With your help they can have that special something that they made, that they created. I am a K-12th grade art teacher.
