Hello Everyone! I am a third grade teacher in the Arkansas Delta at KIPP Delta Elementary Literacy Academy. The mission of (DELA) Academy is to empower our students with the knowledge, skills, and character traits that will enable them to succeed in the nation's finest secondary schools and colleges and to pursue a life of value, joy, and integrity. DELA was founded in 2009 and is the first elementary school in the KIPP Delta Public Schools network. DELA currently serves approximately 410 students in Pre-Kindergarten through 4th grades, 91% of which qualify for free or reduced lunch. Though many of my students are growing up facing rural poverty, they utilize their education and the opportunities afforded to them by KIPP to brighten their community each and every day. Please help us make this project happen!

I have completed my first year of teaching in the Delta-something that, at times, seemed like an impossible task. But now, this place is becoming a home and this job is becoming a dream. Serving this community and these students has been the greatest honor of my life. I have learned so much in one year. But the work is not done. I am here to stay and fight for the equitable education that these children and their families deserve. For now, that means embarking on the mission of revamping our Elementary Art Education program.
