Physical Education Teacher
I am a first year teacher at Aurora Collegiate Academy and graduate of Lane College in Jackson, TN. I received my B.A. in Physical Education. I graduated from Lane College with Cum Laude honors while also achieving All-American honors as a collegiate athlete. My diverse course of study at Lane has molded me into an innovative and well informed instructor. Understanding human movement and movement restoration drove my studies in undergrad. Prior to finishing up my B.A. at Lane College, I attended Middle Tennessee State University where I majored in Applied Science and Athletic Training. There I was able to work with athletes and gain a better grasp of human movement and how certain factors contribute to injury. Post undergraduate school, I assumed the role as a personal trainer and youth speed, agility, and quickness coach at D1 Sports in Collierville, TN. My position at D1 Sports was my first introduction to building motor skills, mechanics, and technique in young athletes. Not too long after, the Memphis Jewish Community Center brought me in as the first and second grade basketball team’s coach. That position taught me a lot, patience being the most important thing in building proper motor skills in grade school kids. I also worked in the clinical/health side of the spectrum as a Rehab Aide, at the Regional One Health Center for Rehabilitative Medicine. This is where I developed the desire to continue inquiring and learning about movement restoration. I attended courses, seminars, and webinars to enhance my knowledge, as well as attained a couple of certifications. It is now my understanding that building supreme performance without functional movement, restoration, and proper nutrition is in vain.
Shelby Klett
2nd Grade Reading Teacher
I am a 2nd grade reading teacher at Aurora Collegiate Academy in Memphis, Tennessee. The 2016-2017 school year will be my second year of teaching and I am eager to get started with a new classroom model. My greatest challenge and greatest joy in my life has been teaching, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Seeing my children, and the children in our school, realize their outstanding potential every day is the reason I get up every morning.
