The Description

At Aurora Collegiate Academy, we are re-establishing the importance of human movement through the foundations of performance based activities. We acknowledge that health is wealth and true fortune can be achieved through nutrition, physical activity, and mental health. Our program will be one of a kind. We are not only introducing the infrastructure of sports and games, but also breathing techniques to quiet the body and mind, yoga to synchronize breath and movement, and nutrition to fuel the body as well as restore the body. These activities will give our students confidence in self, knowledge of self, and familiarity with collective building and teamwork. In order to do this efficiently, teachers need access to gym and yoga equipment in mass quantity to adequately accommodate each student. These pieces include: yoga mats ($5.87 for 1 piece; x38), plastic whiffle balls ($9.95 for 6 pieces; x1), baseball tees ($27.95 for 1 piece; x6), plastic bats ($49.95 for 6 pieces; x1), rubber bases ($20.95 for 5 bases), soccer balls ($59.95 for 6 pieces; x1), tall stacking cones ($10.95 for 6 pieces; x3), foam batons ($19.95 for 6 pieces; x1), and rubber playground balls ($59.95 for 6 pieces; x1).

Back Up Plan

About the Creator

I am a first year teacher at Aurora Collegiate Academy and graduate of Lane College in Jackson, TN. I received my B.A. in Physical Education. I graduated from Lane College with Cum Laude honors while also achieving All-American honors as a collegiate athlete. My diverse course of study at Lane has molded me into an innovative and well informed instructor. Understanding human movement and movement restoration drove my studies in undergrad. Prior to finishing up my B.A. at Lane College, I attended Middle Tennessee State University where I majored in Applied Science and Athletic Training. There I was able to work with athletes and gain a better grasp of human movement and how certain factors contribute to injury.

Post undergraduate school, I assumed the role as a personal trainer and youth speed, agility, and quickness coach at D1 Sports in Collierville, TN. My position at D1 Sports was my first introduction to building motor skills, mechanics, and technique in young athletes. Not too long after, the Memphis Jewish Community Center brought me in as the first and second grade basketball team’s coach. That position taught me a lot, patience being the most important thing in building proper motor skills in grade school kids.

I also worked in the clinical/health side of the spectrum as a Rehab Aide, at the Regional One Health Center for Rehabilitative Medicine. This is where I developed the desire to continue inquiring and learning about movement restoration. I attended courses, seminars, and webinars to enhance my knowledge, as well as attained a couple of certifications. It is now my understanding that building supreme performance without functional movement, restoration, and proper nutrition is in vain.
