The Description
Aurora Collegiate Academy is home to 350 incredibly spectacular students in Memphis. During the 2017-2018 school year, these unique students and their awesome experiences throughout the year were documented in our yearbook, entitled “Reach for the Stars!”. However, our students have not yet received their yearbooks because, well, yearbooks can be costly!
My school has a low-income, high-need population filled with hard-working, devoted, and loving parents. As the head of our Yearbook Club, comprised of 25 students ranging from 3rd-5th grade, I decided this year to not ask our families to spend their money on a yearbook. Instead, I’ve set out to fundraise the money to provide each household at Aurora with one yearbook. Our hope is to have these yearbooks ready for students on the first day of school in August!
By providing each family with a yearbook, they will be able to relive their child’s school year for a lifetime. Students will be able to share their teachers, friends, and special memories with their family in a way that is unique to their point of view. Additionally, my Yearbook Club worked insanely hard on this book from August-June and want more than anything to share their accomplishment with our entire Aurora community.
Lastly, because our yearbook will be ordered and printed after the fundraiser, anyone who makes a donation will have their name, city, and state printed in our yearbook as a “Shining Star”!
Back Up Plan
If our goal is not met, the money that has been raised will be used for next year’s fundraiser for the 2018-2019 yearbook. As for the current yearbook (2017-2018) families will go through the traditional ordering process when they return to school in August. This means families will pay about $10 out of pocket, yearbooks will have to be ordered much later (to accommodate the order form process), and yearbooks will arrive much later into the new school year.
