Oakley Union Elementary School District verified non-profit
About
Thanks to the support of our community Measure H was passed in November 2004, providing funds to build Iron House Elementary School, Almond Grove Elementary School and the modernization of Oakley Elementary School and Gehringer Elementary School. Iron House was opened in 2006, on time and on budget. Almond Grove was finally opened in 2014.
We believe that once the housing market and economy turn around the district will experience immediate and expansive growth. The district could double in size over the next 8 to 10 years. Plans are being made to build 5 additional elementary schools and two additional middle schools. In fact in 2007-08 the district was successful in obtaining special funding from the State of California to purchase a 10 acre elementary site and a 25 acre middle school site.
We are firmly committed to quality instruction and continually seek ways to improve teaching techniques and services to our students. Oakley School District is blessed with very positive and professional certificated and classified staff dedicated to servicing our diverse student population of just over 5,000 students. They provide a friendly environment that promotes self-confidence and successful performance among our students.
Christina Whitmire
District Ed Tech ToSA
Hi, I’m Christina Whitmire! Teaching is my passion and I continue to learn everyday! I have almost 25 years of experience teaching almost every grade level, in both traditional and charter, online school settings. Currently, I’m proud to serve as the District Ed Tech ToSA in the Oakley Union Elementary School District. There’s so much more than just deploying devices. Working together with staff and students to explore how to use the tools and, even more importantly, how to use them to transform learning, is critical!
Andrea Bates
Teacher
I am a middle school social studies teacher. I teach in a low socioeconomic school/district, so funding items has always been a challenge. I am very grateful for all the support and encouragement I can get.
Gina Minder-Maldonado
2nd Grade Teacher
Hello! My name is Gina Minder-Maldonado and I am your child's 2nd grade teacher. I love teaching! This is my 19th year at Oakley Elementary School. I started my teaching career years ago at the age of 15 when I began working in preschools, after school programs, and summer camps. Prior to Oakley, I taught in Danville as a private kindergarten teacher. I have also taught first, second, third, fourth, fifth, and adults! Teaching in the primary grades is my favorite! I received my Multiple Subject teaching Credential from California State University, Hayward and my Master's Degree from St. Mary's College, Moraga. I am a lifelong learner and I continually attend conferences and seminars to find out the newest innovations in the teaching profession.
