1st Grade Teacher
I am a second year 1st grade teacher at a Title 1 school where 100% of the students live under the poverty line. My students come from at risk homes to school where I try to create a classroom environment that is loving, stable and full of life. Yet, schools are funded by taxes, the poorer the community, the less money for the school. Many of my students do not have access to books and other necessary materials to make learning possible. I love my job and want to make sure my children leave my classroom not only academically ready for second grade, but also feeling cared for and like they belong.
