Elizabeth Landwerlen
Fourth grade teacher
I've been teaching for over a decade and my passion is reaching the minds of the next generation. I cannot think of a better way to spend my days than helping students tap into their full potential. My school is a non title school that serves 440 students which means we recieve very little funding from state and federal levels.

Maria Aguirre
Spanish teacher K-5th
My name is Maria Aguirre, this is my seventh year teaching. This is my third year teaching Spanish at Heard Magnet School. I enjoy teaching Spanish and been able to share my culture with over 400 students. I try to bring technology in my classroom as much as I can, but sometimes is challenging to do. My school is not a Title One School. This means I have to rely heavily on my parents for any resources for my classroom, and since I do not have a homeroom classroom it is difficult to do. I enjoy teaching and feel proud when I see my students understanding a lesson and applying skills learned into their lives. Teaching gives the opportunity to become a better person and learn new things everyday.
