The Description

The chromebooks will give students the opportunity of one-to-one technology which is necessary for the digital age in which we live in.  With these Chromebooks students in grades second through five will be given the opportunity to research Spanish artist and countries on their own that we cannot discuss in our limited class time. Adding the chromobooks to my classroom will give students the opportunity to take virtual field trips to any Spanish country they would like to explore. In grades third through fifth students will have the opportunity to increase responsibility in their own learning and collaborate with classmates by using Google classroom.

My classroom has two computers for students to use. Two computers are not enough for the 25 to 28 students I teach in each class period. If I get to purchase these Chromebooks, students from first grade through fifth grade will have the opportunity to use the devices. Students will not use the Chromebooks just for research, students will be able to engage in some lesson materials at their own pace, effectively collaborate with classmates and myself, and receive more immediate feedback from me. The student will also have the opportunity to learn and practice Spanish at their own pace.

About the Creator

My name is Maria Aguirre, this is my seventh year teaching. This is my third year teaching Spanish at Heard Magnet School. I enjoy teaching Spanish and been able to share my culture with over 400 students. I try to bring technology in my classroom as much as I can, but sometimes is challenging to do. My school is not a Title One School. This means I have to rely heavily on my parents for any resources for my classroom, and since I do not have a homeroom classroom it is difficult to do. I enjoy teaching and feel proud when I see my students understanding a lesson and applying skills learned into their lives. Teaching gives the opportunity to become a better person and learn new things everyday.
