About

E.D. Walker Middle School is named after Dr. Ewell D. Walker, former teacher and Assistant Superintendent for Dallas ISD. The school has experienced many transformations; a middle school when it opened in the 1970's, a Special Education Center in the 1980's through 2000, an elementary vanguard from 2000 - 2006, then back to its origins as a middle school since the 2006 - 2007 school year.
E.D. Walker Middle School is a community of excellence, complete with wonderful students and staff tucked away in a North Dallas community. E.D. Walker Middle School is a community of learners, with Teachers, who continually work on their craft as instructors, and our students who are committed to doing things, \\\"The Walker Way." E.D. Walker Middle School prides itself with a couple of mottos; "Learning Today..Leading Tomorrow!" and "High Expectations for every student, every class period, every day, no exceptions, and no excuses!"

The majority of our student population come from four excellent elementary schools: Nathan Adams, Jerry R. Junkins, Harry C. Withers and George H. W. Bush and our students feed into W. T. White High School. Students come to us well prepared, and our goal is to continue to educate them on the path toward college and career readiness.

I am a parent volunteer at E.D. Walker Middle School in Dallas Independent School District. We are trying to raise funds for programs that support the Spanish-speaking Latino families in their kids' education at E.D. Walker.

7th Grade Reading/AVID

Whenever someone inquires about what grade level I teach, I always see a wince when I say enthusiastically "middle school". However, after working with many different grade levels (and teaching kindergarten for two years), I believe that I have found my perfect fit with seventh grade Reading. Now that doesn't mean that everyday doesn't present some sort of challenge. But it mean that I make a difference in at least one child's life daily, especially in a Title 1 school. In addition to teaching regular Reading, which is perfect when your last name is "Booker", I teach ESL reading and an AVID elective class. I am also the Cross Country and Track coach. Busy, yes. But all the warm fuzzy feelings at the end of the year make it all worth it.
