Flexible Seating in 2nd Grade
$847
$800 goal
The Description
With these funds I will...
Be purchasing 6 HOKKI STOOLS for my 2nd Grade classroom to incorporate flexible seating options for my students.
HOKKI STOOLS are an ergonomic stool with a convex base that allows movement - rocking, twisting and turning - which is critical to student development and well-being. The HOKKI STOOL is wear-resistant, easy to clean, light weight and stackable for easy storage.
Currently all 16 of my students sit at desks with traditional chairs. There are 3 small group (1 kidney shaped and 2 round shaped) tables in my classroom. The reason I am incorporating flexible seating options is to provide students with the ability to choose where they sit for certain activities and lessons and to also be comfortable while learning. This is extremely important for my fidgety learners who have a hard time controlling their body 100% of the time. This not only impacts their learning but also the learning of their peers as their body movements can be distracting and noisy at times.
Research has shown that an ability to have a choice and be comfortable can greatly impact a students ability to focus, concentrate and ultimately learn more through out their school day. These stools will be stationed at one of the small group tables. Currently we have bean bag chairs in our reading area and are in the process of incorporating 4 stability balls for another small group table.
The 6 HOKKI STOOLS cost around $120 per stool plus shipping. The funding for the $800 will completely take care of the cost for the 6 HOKKI STOOLS, shipping and PledgeCents fees.
Thank you so much for considering a donation to our classroom. My students and I greatly appreciate any help you provide!
Back Up Plan
If I do not meet my goal I will purchase...
As many HOKKI STOOLS as the funds I raise will provide. If there is left over money after purchasing the HOKKI STOOLS, that does not quite cover the cost of one of the stools, I will put the money toward school supplies for our classroom. If the money raised is close to the cost of a stool I will use my own money to cover the rest of the cost.
