The Description
With these funds I will purchase the Fountas & Pinnell Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI) Gold System for 4th Graders [http://www.heinemann.com/products/E02852.aspx]. Dr. Dahlia Hall said, "It's not about teaching the child to read. It's about teaching the children to love to read." In my classroom there are 25 students that struggle with reading. These students struggle with reading because our classroom library has old out dated books with low interest subject matter. Books are so expensive and curiculum guides are more expensive. However, the LLI system was designed with the struggling reader in mind. This system has over 800 books that are colorful, engaging and most importantly on my students grade level. The teacher resources are designed to meet the demand of the Common Core standards thus preparing my students for learning in the 21st Century. Unfortunately, my school does not have the financial means to purchase this system for classroom use; therefore, I am reaching out to kind donors like you to request your support to and get these resources in the hands of my students.
Back Up Plan
If I do not meet my goal I will purchase as much of the kit as I can. Each book comes in a set of 6 books. This allows for guided reading and book clubs inside the classroom. The book sets cost $38.00 each and the novels are $50.00 each. All of these items will purchased over time until I have the entire LLI Gold System for my classroom.
