With these funds I will be able to book a school bus to take some of my top 35 students around town to read and learn in different environments, practicing good habits of learning wherever you are. This will reinforce and reward them for reading their independent novels! Many of them do not get to go on adventures, and in our reading class, our theme is that reading takes you places! A basic school bus costs $250, after gas and taxes, it comes just over $300. Taking a day trip to read and write at the beach and the local gardens will open their eyes to how reading can be a part of every day life and enjoyable in many settings outside of school. The majority of them are not able to afford a field trip, and having been working incredibly hard to read on million words! As a reward, they will be able to take their books and journals to the Book Club at the Beach and Picnics and Poetry at the gardens for enhanced educational and inspirational opportunities to reward their efforts.
