With these funds, I will purchase interactive materials for my students to use in the classroom. Currently, with our school underfunded, my students are unable to explore Science effectively outside of the textbook. My students are a diverse, bright group from a low-income community. Though many of my students face challenges outside of school, such as not having a home to go to, not having food on the table, having to take care of a son or daughter, or fearing their walk home from school, they still understand the role that education plays in their future success. My students are eager to learn when given the resources. The materials requested would allow me the opportunity to group students at stations that meet their learning needs. This will transform the way my students think and feel about science. Through powerful media found on the Internet and various programs, these resources will allow my students and I to embark on a daily journey that will be both educationally exciting and thought provoking. The activity books will also allow my ESOL and SPED students to join in on this journey through a medium focused on their learning. Students will be much more engaged when they are virtually manipulating a macromolecule using a digital microscope.
