Building Community: Startup Classroom Supplies

The Description

Hi! I have joined Teach for America’s 2019 Corps in Dallas-Fort Worth and will be certified as a bilingual elementary school teacher! I am excited to be teaching third grade bilingual education at A.M. Pate Elementary School this upcoming school year. I am very excited to be starting a new chapter in my life here in Texas, and I am ecstatic to meet my first group of kiddos in about a month.

After having taught summer school in Houston in June, my passion for educational equity has strengthened even more! I am excited to embark on this journey along with my future young scholars, and I hope to learn so much more about myself through this work.

Since A.M. Pate is a Title I school, funding is low, and decorating my room and purchasing school supplies will need to come out of my finances. My recently graduating college and my relocation to a new state mean that I need your help in creating an inclusive, vibrant, and welcoming classroom where my students will be excited to learn every day.

Every dollar I receive will be put towards classroom supplies so anything you can contribute really will make a difference for my first year.

Here are some things I plan on purchasing for my classroom:

-plastic bins

-anchor chart paper

-construction paper

-pencils

-pens

-dry erase markers

-rulers

-erasers

-whiteboards

-sharpies

-index cards

-paper towels

-kleenex

-hand sanitizer

-Clorox disinfecting wipes

-Ziploc bags

-paperclips

-miscellaneous decoration: bulletin board bins, posters, stickers etc.

Thank you so much in advance for supporting me and my students at the beginning of this exciting journey, and I will make sure to update y’all going forward.

Back Up Plan

If I do not meet my goal, I will purchase as many materials as possible. I will prioritize the materials that are most essential to students (pencils, paper, etc.) as they are the most important to ensuring that students can participate in daily lessons.
