With these funds we will... 

Take a day trip to San Antonio, TX for an adjudicated performance, enjoy lunch on the historic Riverwalk, and spend time at Six Flags Fiesta Texas.  We have 60 Advanced Band students working hard on their music to get performance ready.  The cost per trip is $136 per student.  Our students work diligently throughout the year in growing their knowledge of their specific instrument.  In our band we have flute, oboe, clarinet, bass clarinet, alto sax, tenor sax, baritone sax, trumpet, french horn, trombone, tuba and percussion.  Each student received a 45-minute small group lesson once per week and they all have full band rehearsal everyday after the regular school day.  We recently had 40 students qualify for the Houston All-City Honor Band!!!  Parker Elementary has the most students represented of the 9 elementary schools participating. 

Our students love to perform and show their abilities and growth since the last concert.  Already this year, Parker Advanced Band has had 2 performances and has 2 more scheduled in December, All-City Honor Band in January, Solo & Ensemble in March, a local adjudicated contest in March, performance at the Houston Zoo in April, 2 band concerts in May and a trip to San Antonio!  We have busy kiddos who work very hard and put in the practice time it takes to improve every week!
