The Description
Friends and Family-- I recently completed the 2017 Teach for America Philadelphia Institute where I had the challenging yet unforgettable experience of teaching geometry to 10th graders in the Philadelphia area. The month of July was just a small taste of what I will experience over the next two years in Baltimore and I could not be more excited to get to work. My coaches with Teach for America told us on the first day you would fall in love with your kids. I for one thought three weeks was too short for that to happen, but I was certainly wrong. Whether it is my inspiring chefs, youtube bloggers, or youth activists, my kids showed me their heart and determination to overcome the obstacles that have continuously been place in their life.
September 5th, I will begin my journey as a Teach for America Corps Member in Baltimore at Forest Park High School learning and growing with my 150 geometry students. I'm incredibly excited to join the over 1,100+ current and former Baltimore corps members as we work with the Baltimore communities to fight the systemic educational inequity that exists across the country. In order to jumpstart my journey, I am asking for your support in providing basic classroom materials for my students. Many school systems are unable to provide all of the necessary materials for our nation's children to pursue their education to the fullest, and Baltimore schools in particular have recently undergone large budget cuts. Every penny raised will be put towards making my classroom the best place for my students.
With the funds I raise I will be purchasing a number of classroom necessities as well as supporting my students who are unable to purchase all of the required school materials. These include:
- 3 Boxes of Paper (15 Reams) - $75.00
- 2 Boxes of Pencils (288 Count) - $40.00
- Kleenex (18 Pack) - $36.00
- Anchor Chart Paper (2 Pack) - $30.00
- Scotch Thermal Laminator - $29.00

Back Up Plan
If I do not meet my goal, I will purchase as many materials as possible. I will prioritize the materials that are most essential to students (pencils, paper, etc.) as they are the most important to ensuring that students can participate in daily lessons.
