The Description

With these funds I will enhance the technology in my classroom by purchasing six laptops for my Calculus and Precalculus classes. I have real-world problem-based activities that use or interface with Windows-based laptops. Our school has Chromebook carts shared among several classrooms; however, as shown in my videos and pictures, students would use a pulse oximeter to measure their heart rate, download it to a Windows device and use an Excel spreadsheet to determine the sinusoidal equation that replicates their heart rate. This activity can be extended to determine how brain or nerve signals can be manipulated to control a prosthetic arm or leg. Additionally with Math, there are many activities on Desmos and Geogebra, which enhance and reinforce conceptual learning from our project based activities in the classroom. Also, the College Board has released the AP Classroom where my AP Calculus students can practice for the AP test on a regular basis with personal progress checks on these laptops.

Back Up Plan

If we do not reach our goal I will purchase as many laptops and graphing calculators with the available funds.
