The Description

With these funds I will...

help provide books for my students to use during their writing process and to learn how to write. These books will be used as a mentor text so we can learn how to write in different ways (how to books, narratives, descriptive writing, etc).  These books will also help us learn about new topics we aren't able to learn hands on!  These books will be used in multiple ways throughout our school day. Mainly showing students what good writers do! We will read these books (several times throughout the units) to examine different strategies that writers used to convey their message.

Some of the books we would use the funds for will include:

Books for Telling a Story versus just naming the parts: "Pancakes for Breakfast" by Tomie DePaola, "Good Dog", "Carl" by Alexandria Day, "No, David!" by David Shannon

Each of these books range from $8 to $12. There are a total of 35 different book titles.

Back Up Plan

If I do not meet my goal I will purchase...a small amount of books to be used as mentor text!  These books will be used in the beginning of the year to help get our writing off to a good start for the year. Then I will try to find additional funds to purchase more books to help us throughout the remainder of the school year.
