With these funds I will get to go on a professional development adventure. For years, I have followed Responsive Classroom and have been researching and reading up on it.  It's an amazing manner in which to teach.  Responsive Classroom creates a warm and safe classroom environment, it's absolutely the classroom you want to teach in and the one you want for your child. Children have a voice, it's student led, and the amount of misbehaviors and disruptions within a classroom.  Currently, I co-teach in quite a large class, 37 Fifth Graders!  Even with two teachers, many of the children are unable to get what they need emotionally, which deters their academic progression. What I need right now for my students is to be the teacher they need, emotionally and academically. While I continue to read the books published by Responsive Classroom and have lively discussions with other teachers who are equally enthused by Responsive Classroom, the best thing for my students is for me to get officially trained and learn all I can to help them to be successful!  The funds I am requesting will allow me to attend a one day, 6 hour workshop and purchase some more Responsive Classroom books and materials to help me be the best teacher for my students.

I hope to purchase:

1. 11 year old Adolescent Development Info Sheets, $18

2. Power of our Words, $24

3. Solving Thorny Behavior Problems, $27

4. Teacher Language for Engaged Learning, $195

5. One day workshop: Responsive Classroom Sampler, $199

I would first put all funds towards the workshop and then proceed from there. Often, at the workshops, RC offers other items for sale that they utilize throughout their workshops as well.
