College Graduation Aspiration!

The Description

Every year, my school takes a Spring Trip to reward students for excellent behavior and expose them to colleges and universities across the country. This year, my grade level team has worked extremely hard to raise money for an 8th grade Spring Trip to Washington, D.C. We are so excited to take our students, but the budget is still tight!

During the Spring Trip, I will be graduating from Johns Hopkins University with my Masters in Education. The graduation ceremony takes place during the spring trip, and so there is the possibility of bringing some of my students with me to watch me graduate! In order to take my students to the graduation ceremony, we need to rent a van to drive them from D.C. to Baltimore. There is not enough money in our trip budget to rent the van, and I would love to be able to provide this opportunity for my students.

I believe that taking my students to watch my graduation would not only expose them to an elite university, but it will also be an excellent example to see someone they actually know persisting through post-graduate degree work and conferral. The students who have earned the trip to D.C. are excellent in both behavior and academics, and they deserve the opportunity to witness a graduation first-hand. Many of my students are first-generation college students, like myself, and I know this experience would be completely unique and inspiring.

The cost of the van is $160.17 through Enterprise car rentals. Please consider donating any amount of money to help me take my students to my college graduation!

Back Up Plan

If I do not meet my goal I will purchase a smaller, cheaper vehicle to take a fewer number of students to the graduation. My goal is to rent a passenger van that seats 11-14 students, but I would also be able rent a smaller car to take 4 students in the event that I do not reach the goal needed to rent the van.
