Greetings

My name is Tiffany Carvalho and I teach 6th Grade Technology at the Knowledge Is Power Program (KIPP) West Philadelphia Prep. I teach Technology amongst Physical Health and Art. Students are expected to type at 50 WPM (Words Per Minute) by the end of the year. Students are consistently practicing their typing on free websites but are not receiving the full amentities of the website due to funding roadblocks. With this funding opportunity, students will have access to games, incentives, and high quality programming through the Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing Platinum 21 Lab Pack. This program will impact students improvement on typing because it is a skill needed in order to be successful in high school, college, and the competitive world beyond. 

 

Back Up Plan

If our goal is not met, I will purchase the Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing Platinum 21 School Edition for $79.99. It is less expensive and it is considered the next best program for students to become advance in typing.

The goal has been met and I have just received the funds in the mail. Students are so excited about the news and a video of their sincere gratitude is on the way! This is so important to them because they will be expected to have the skill of typing mastered in their educational future. I will have the Mavis Beacon program purchased over the weekend!
