The Description
I am a new first grade teacher at a bilingual school in South-West Philadelphia. While I have collected a couple of things throughout my experiences, I am in need of many start up materials to make my classroom a positive and nurturing space that encourages deep learning.
I want to promote flexible seating, so utilizing the cushions for students who find they work best on the floor. The bookshelves will serve as a book shelf for our class library but second as a bench for additional flexible seating. The bins will keep our books neat and organized in the library. The other small odds and ends are self explanatory.
Students are coming to our school in hopes to find something different than a public school. I am motivated to make their learning as engaging and challenging, but our environment has a huge impact on how we feel -- a diverse group of students are coming to first grade expecting a safe and warm environment. I believe flexible seating will help foster those feelings.
I am requesting:
- 2 three-shelf organizer at $27.99 each
- 2 ten pack bins at $40.00 each
- 2 long cushions at $35.00 each
- 1 electric pencil sharpener at $20
- 1 timer at $7.00
- 1 stapler at $12.00
- 1 stapler remover at $2.00
- 10 individual dry erase boards at $9.00 each
Back Up Plan
If I do not meet my goal I will purchase as much as I can, starting with priority items first, such as the bins to keep our books neat and the pencil sharpener.
