Become a part of helping KIPP West students go to summer camp this year!

Students at KIPP West Philadelphia Prep are called "KIPPsters" and one of our school mottos is "Work hard. Be nice." KIPPsters work hard by starting their school dayearlier than other schools and ending much later in the day.  KIPPsters work hard by having homework every night and going above and beyond, academically, to climb the mountain to college.  KIPPsters work to develop their character as well as academic knowledge so that they can become positive members of our community.  KIPPsters are nice in that classmates help each other be successful and understand the value of talking out our problems respectfully, instead of letting arguments get in the way of learning.  

At KIPP West we work hard and we celebrate our successes.  One way we acknowledge our students "Working hard and Being nice" is by going on a annual field trip to Camp Susquehannock in the Pocono Mountains. KIPP West has had the opportunity to go to Camp Susquehannock for the past 3 years and we have built a wonderful relationship with its community and staff.  The Susquahannock trip is a tradition at our school and the children have such fond memories with their friends hiking and fishing as well as playing basketball and volleyball, that they do not want to leave at the end of their stay.  Our students love going to summer camp and they tell us again and again they want to go back next year!

Unfortunately, due to budget restraints for the 2015-1016 school year, the funds dedicated to this experience are growing smaller.  However, our school will not allow a shortness in funds to keep us from working hard to provide the best possible experience for our students.  Our students truly embody the motto "Work hard. Be Nice.", and they deserve a chance to celebrate their successes from this school year.   With the funds we raise here we will be able to provide the students in the 5th grade at KIPP West Philadelphia Prep with an amazing opportunity to go on a 4 day 3 night experience to stay-away camp; Camp Susquehannock in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania!  The funds generated from this cause will go specifically to cover the cost of food for the week, bus transportation, and other camp supplies for approximately 55 children.
