I am one of the founding first grade teachers at Independence Charter School West. I recently relocated to Philadelphia to join the wonderful staff at this school. Unfortunately, not all of my materials fit into the moving truck and I donated them to the local charity. Upon entering ICSW I quickly discovered I would require start-up materials in order to create a classroom climate that is nurturing and encourages joyous learning. 

Students and families are entering our school with the hopes and dreams to find something different. I am motivated to make their experience engaging, challenging, cheerful, and fulfilling. In order to do so, I need to create a space which expresses how I feel and one that the students look forward to be a part of everyday. A diverse group of students are attending ICSW. I want my first grades to feel safe, welcomed, and proud of the space they learn in. I feel these items will help foster these feeling and have the positive impact on the classroom I am looking for.
