About

Principal’s Letter: "Dear William Dandy Middle School Family,

Our school is successful because of the enormous efforts put into ensuring our students do well. We are an “A” school for a 9th year because of the entire school community’s dedication to this school and its students.

I am confident that the Wildcat pride and commitment to excellence that has served us well in the past will continue to serve us in the future. We are embarking on a number of new initiatives, initiatives that can only be successful if we work together as a team. Teachers have put much work into curriculum planning for the new school year and I am excited about the products they have produced.

Let us remind ourselves of the old cliché, “It Takes a Village to Raise a Child,” as we work to enhance the planning and execution of thorough, rigorous and relevant curriculum. Recognizing that you as the parent or guardian, are the single-most important contributing factor to student learning, I encourage you get actively involved in your child’s education: come to parent nights, join the PTSA and SAC groups, sign up for Pinnacle Live Grade Viewer and most importantly, have daily dialogue your child about the importance of their education."

Berthe Petit

6th, 7th and 8th French Teacher

My name is Berthe Petit, I teach French in William Dandy Middle School in Fort-Lauderdale, Florida, a Pre-Law and Pre-Med Magnet school.I have been teaching for 10 years. In the past 3 years, I have organized trips to Quebec, Canada and other field trips to local French restaurants as an effort to immerse my students in the French culture and in the target language. My school's population is in majority of African-American, Caribbean decent. My students are not fortunate enough to get the exposure to any trips, therefore Iam always struggling to take them on such trips. My objective is to broaden their horizon and deepen their knowledge on the outside world , away from the classroom. I truly believe in the real life experiences as an essential part of the learning experience.
