The mission of Stepney Elementary School is to build a foundation of lifelong learning in which all learners are inspired to reach their full potential by fostering critical and innovative thinking in collaboration with the diverse global community.
To achieve our mission, staff experience on-going professional learning activities. We work collaboratively as professional teams to strengthen our student-centered classrooms in order to develop a rigorous, inquiry-based curriculum for all.
We have a strong community partnership with teachers and parents working together to provide a balanced educational program. The Parent Teacher Organization is a vibrant part of our community, offering many activities and programs to further develop and enrich our students both in and out of the classroom.
Stepney School is one of three elementary schools in Monroe, CT. The school population is 430 students in grades Kindergarten through five. Our class size is approximately 20 students per classroom. Students engage in various Unified Arts during the course of the school day as well as having the opportunity to further enrich their learning through our Arts and Imagination Program both before and after school.
