The 2018-2019 school year brings new opportunities; opportunities for academic growth but also opportunities for social and emotional growth and all aspects of development. Although children must be educated when they graduate, we also strive for them to be healthy, engaged, responsible and caring people.

Lakewood’s mission statement, Everyone Learning, Everyone Growing, Everyone Leading, is one that myself and the staff at Lakewood embrace whole heartedly and I am honored to be a part of the great team at Lakewood. David Vitter, U.S. Senator said, "I continue to believe that if children are given the necessary tools to succeed, they will succeed beyond their wildest dreams!" Lakewood staff is committed to giving each child the tools they need as an individual to succeed, but we do not do it alone.

As a school family, it is our belief that a strong partnership between school and home is crucial to ensure our students reach their full potential. We are very proud of our highly involved, generous, and passionate Parent Teacher Association whose mission is to enhance the partnership between the staff and families of Lakewood Elementary School. PTA meetings are held monthly and all parents are welcome to attend.
