About
KIPP Promesa is a new school opening in the Boyle Heights community for the 2015-16 school year. Our interest period is closed but if you are interested in filling out an interest form for our inaugural Kindergarten class, please submit your form online today! Your child will be added to the end of our waitlist. KIPP LA currently operates thirteen schools in South and East Los Angeles, serving almost 5,000 students and 1,300 alumni. Eighty-nine percent of our students are from low-income families and are eligible for the federal free or reduced-price meals program, and 99 percent are African American or Latino. More than 95 percent of KIPP LA middle school students have graduated from high school, and more than 75 percent of college-aged alumni are persisting in college. We operate six middle schools (grades 5-8) and seven elementary schools (grades TK-4). Students are accepted regardless of prior academic record or socioeconomic background. If we receive more applications than we have available spaces, students are admitted through a state-mandated lottery process.
