8th Grade Social Studies Teacher

To help all my students prepare to be twenty-first century professionals we will focus on the three R’s, Rigor, Relevance, and Relationships. Understanding our own biases will help us grow personally and learn to value the perspectives of others as we prepare for success in a global world. Students are people and they learn by doing too. Classrooms where students do the heavy lifting are classrooms where transformational learning takes place. In my classroom, the students are hard workers and they take the initiative to do the heavy lifting--all the time. They come from hard working backgrounds and believe in the power of education. My students come from urban and rural areas and share their experiences to benefit and learn from one another.
