Ashly Evans, Soprano, a native of Omaha, Nebraska is excited to join the BHS choral department this year. Ms. Evans has most recently been teaching Vocal Music at Langham Creek HS, Cypres, TX; Cypress Creek HS, Cypress, TX; and Deer Park HS. She had over 60 students in her vocal studio and last year was the proud teacher of 9 all-state singers including 2 first chairs. Since Ms. Evans moved to Houston in 2009 to work on her doctoral degree at the Unviersity of Houston she has been seen on stage with the Houston Chamber Choir, Cantare, Christ Church Cathederal, Da Camera, Ars Lyrica, Cypress Creek Foundation for the Arts, Richard Brown Band and many others. Ms. Evans wide range of operatic roles include the tital role in Suor Angelica, with Aspen Music Festival; Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro, Margherita in Mefistofle, both with the Institute for Young Dramatic Voices; Florence in Elmer Gantry, La Marchesa Melibea in Il Viaggio a Reims, both with UH; Buttercup in HMS Pinafore, Ciboletta in A Night in Venice, Nanette in Mlle. Modiste, Parthenis in La Belle Helene, Azuri in The Desert Song, Effie Dix in The Cabaret Girl, Dutchess in The Czarevich, all with The Ohio Light Opera; Dritte Dame in Die Zauberflote, with New Jersey Opera; Giulio Cesere in Giulio Cesare in Egitto, Mrs. McLean in Susannah both with UMKC; She has been a both a district and regional winner in the Metropolitan National Council auditons. Ms. Evans holds a Master Degree of Music and Bachelor Degree of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Missouri - Kansas City. Ms. Evans begins her third season with the Houston Grand Opera singing in Eugene Onegin, Rusalka and Tosca this season. She maintains a rubust private studio and performance schedule. Her professioanl affiiations include ACDA, TCDA, TMEA, Chorus America, Opera America, and a union member of AGMA.
