The Description

Hello!

Thank you so much for your contribution to my cause. I am seeking a class set of Dell Chromebooks and a charging cart for my students. I teach math and science to two fourth grade classes. Your contribution will allow me to use technology as a tool to personalize and differentiate learning for my students. Giving them access to their own chrome book gives my students an opportunity to collaborate, create, problem-solve, and self-assess. I plan to flip my classes which will allow my students to learn concepts at home by watching educational videos and practicing the skills they've learned at school through interactive and engaging activities. Students will use the chrome books to take quick assessments online to determine if they grasped the concept. They will use websites like Think Through Math, Prodigy Math, and FrontRow which personalize learning by adjusting problems based on how students answer questions. They will use sites like Kidblog to journal their thinking about math and science concepts, Verso to collaborate with their peers to solve challenging math word problems in a safe protected environment, presentation tools such as Prezi and Kizoa to create interactive science projects, and Canva to create stunning visual designs to explain scientific concepts.

I teach at Stone Scholastic Academy, one of the best schools in Chicago, and my wonderful students deserve these resources because they love technology and they love learning. What better way to pair the two than by using tools that will engage them and allow them to create, collaborate, and problem solve in ways they aren't able to do without technology. My students are into gaming, creating avatars, and communicating electronically with their peers. Most of the applications and tools I mentioned allow them to do these things.

I will be purchasing 32 Dell Chromebook 11 chromebooks ($269.00 per chromebook) and 1 Charging Cart ($1,325). THANK YOU!!!

Back Up Plan

If I do not meet my goal I will purchase as many chromebooks as I can with the funds that are donated.

About the Creator

I am a fourth grade teacher at Stone Scholastic Academy, a public school located on the far north side (West Rogers Park) of Chicago, Il. I teach math and science and love discovering meaningful ways to incorporate technology into my curriculum. I'm getting my second master's degree in educational technology (with a concentration in digital teaching and learning) and I would love an opportunity to apply the concepts I've learned this past year (blended learning, universal design for learning, formative assessments) to both of the classes I teach.
