The Description
Hi, I’m Mrs. G and I sure would love to display student artwork around our school and in local venues in a professional, aesthetic manner. My students spend countless hours on each project…but sometimes when it comes time to display work I can only mount it on construction paper to ‘frame’ it. Sometimes I don’t have enough construction paper to even do that. I would love to order mats, frames and other supplies to help ensure that I can properly display my students’ artwork.
My students deserve this because they take great pride in their work. I work at a Title 1 School. Many of my students are coming from difficult home situations. Many struggle with academics due to language barriers. They are able to express themselves and share their ‘voice’ in my class through the creation of works of art. My students take such pride in their work-I want to do what I can do honor them and the work that they create.
If funded, I would buy items such as pre-cut white mats, backing boards, acetate; wire/hanging devices, frames for permanent displays around school, pens/markers for labeling, construction paper for backgrounds, and adhesives. I hope to budget so that I can send each of my 200 students home with a nice, matted artwork at the end of the year (after an end of the year art show!) in addition to showing in local shows (20-30 pieces at least) and also setting up some rotating framed art displays (10-15) in offices and buildings around our school. I hope to order from Blick art supplies (http://www.dickblick.com/categories/framing/).
Back Up Plan
If I do not meet my goal I will purchase as many materials as possible to mat as many works as possible! I can modify my original goals to focus on making sure each student has one nicely matted work to take home at the end of the year after our art show...or I can just focus on a smaller set of mats for shows...or even just frames for the school displays. I am frugal AND flexible and I will do my best with whatever monies are donated.
