With these funds I will...purchase textbooks for International Baccalaureate (IB) Biology, Chemistry and Physics.  All three classes have new curriculum starting with last year's juniors.  In addition, IB Physics is a new class for our school, so we do not have a bank of previous resources to draw on for IB Physics.  The books follow the IB curriculum as outlined in each subject guide.  

Since the money will be used for textbooks, they will directly impact both students and teachers as they learn and prepare for the May IB exams.  Additionally, even though this year we have 158 juniors and seniors who will be using the books, we will continue to use these books each year for new students entering the IB Diploma Programme.  

The IB Diploma Programme is a rigorous academic program for students in 11th and 12th grades.  In addition to academic knowledge, students learn and practice a variety of types of writing skills in all of their IB classes.  In science, students write lab reports.  They create, conduct and write the results of science labs.  Students learn organizational skills.  Statistics from a variety of studies show that IB Diploma students are very prepared when entering university and a higher percentage of IB students graduate from university.
