The Description
Hello,
It is amazing what students can do when technology is put into their hands! They are technology natives. That is why it is essential that students have opportunities to express their creativity, tinker, and explore without having to be “right.” This is the time where students make important connections to the real world for themselves and gain a deeper understanding of how things work.
This year I want to give my students more opportunities to experiment and explore without the pressure of choosing a correct answer while teaching the 4th grade curriculum in my school district. That is why I want to purchase Makey Makey kits for my classroom. Makey is a STEM invention kit for the 21st century. With the kit students are able turn everyday objects into touchpads and combine them with the internet. The Makey Makey products provide hands-on, creative ways to encourage students to design, experiment, build and invent as they deeply engage in science, art, electrical engineering and tinkering.
This project will be shared with approximately 90 4th grade students in my building. It will also be made available to our before school STEM club of 1st-5th graders. If you believe students should be provided with the opportunity to tinker and engage in higher-level, real-world experiences in the classroom, please consider making an investment into our fundraiser. Every donation, regardless of size, will bring these awesome kits into the hands my students. If you are not able to make a contribution at the moment, please consider sharing this on social media to help increase awareness. Thank you in advance for all all of the support!
Here is the breakdown of our goal of $256.70 for Makey Makey

Back Up Plan
If we do not reach our goal I will purchase conductive tape, batteries, and LED lights so that they can tinker with circuitry and create projects with simple circuits in our 4th grade science class and in our before school STEM club. Click below for the products that I plan to purchase as a back-up plan.
