With these funds we will be able to provide 110 students with the opportunity to learn about animal habitats and what they need to survive. This is important to our students because this will be their first field trip in 1st grade! Winterfield Elementary is a title 1 school, and the 1st grade team's goal is to provide every student with the same opportunity to attend this field trip by eliminating financial hardships that would be imposed on these families that might not be able to afford it. Our field trip will be on March 26th. These funds will be able to cover the tickets for each student to get into Lazy 5 Ranch, as well as transportation to get there and back to school. Students will be able to go to Lazy 5 ranch and use knowledge learned in the classroom and apply it to the animals they see at Lazy 5 Ranch. Students have been learning about understanding characteristics of various environments and behaviors of humans that enable plants and animals to survive, as well as being able to summarize the needs of living organisms for energy and growth. This field trip will be able to provide the opportunity to take what students have learned within the classroom and apply it to the different animals they see at Lazy 5 Ranch such as what different animals need to survive and how they will be able to grow.
