With these funds I will taking my dancers to New York city to train in dance on an Education Performance tour where they will have the opportunity to experience the culture of New York city, train at the Alvin Ailey Dance Center, take a customized broadway dance workshop, have a back stage tour of the Radio City Music Hall, tour and train at Marymount Manhattan College, as well as see wonderful Broadway plays along with other landmark site from New York city such as the Rockefeller Center, 911 World Trade Memorial Center and Ellis Island Statue of Liberty.  This will be an amazing life changing experience for my students....KIPP Krew.

Our trip is set for march 2017 and we will be traveling with 4 chaperones.  

KIPP Krew is a Coed dance group from KIPP Houston High School. 

KIPP Houston High School services under privileged students and helps them close the achievement gap and climb the mountain to and through college. 

My passion as a fine art teacher is to bring dance experiences to my students that they would not otherwise have the opportunity to experience due to their economic circumstances.   KIPP Krew is a competitive Performance Ensemble group that was formed for that reason.   

For the past two years, I am honored to say that KIPP Krew has earned the title of Coed National Champions, and been invited to perform at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York city.  While they haven’t been able to make it to the parade, they do have the opportunity to travel on an Educational Performance Tour this March to advance their training in dance. 

I am so excited to bring this experience to them and know that it will bring lasting and life changing memories.  My students have worked really hard to fundraise and earn their way to this trip, but now must cover the cost of the chaperones for the trip.  Any contributions that we obtain will help the team offset that expense.
