Support Foreign Language at NPHS

The Description

Hello all! Many of you may not know that this Fall I will begin teaching Spanish at North Panola High School in Panola County, MS. As a lifelong student, I am thoroughly excited to take on this new adventure, sharing knowledge with kids and learning from them along the way. I am in the business of building up intellectually curious and culturally competent young adults.

Studying a second-language stretches young minds in ways that carry far-reaching benefits later in life. Language courses are positively related to academic achievement, increased scores on SAT and ACT standardized testing, success in college, as well as career preparedness and earning potential thereafter.

That being said, second-language acquisition is absolutely a daunting endeavor and I intend to set the bar high. I also want to ensure that my students feel as supported as possible as we embark upon this journey through providing authentic resources, study aids, and just a fun, welcoming classroom environment, SOOOOO consider dropping a few coins and share this fundraiser with your friends. We greatly appreciate it!

Best,

A. O. Stewart

About the Creator

I am excited to be a part of the TFA family and join the movement to solve education inequity in this country and provide all students with a quality education. I'm fortunate enough to be selected from a nationwide talent applicant pool to join a teacher corps comprised of leaders who commit a minimum of two years to teach in high need public schools. This summer I will be participating in an intensive skill and knowledge development program aiming to increase student achievement as well as a comprehensive professional development program including seminars, discussion groups, workshops, and content and professional learning communities specific to teaching license areas. I can't wait for my first year with Teach for America.
