With these funds I will buy a teacher's subscription to Flocabulary for my classroom. Flocabulary is an online library of educational hip hop songs and videos.

This resource would greatly benefit my students by providing them with innovative, interesting ways to engage with the concepts they are learning. By being able to engage in content matter across the curriculum such as parts of speech, area and perimeter, idioms, figurative language, force and motion, and wave properties, my students will not only be exposed to the material they need to learn, but get to engage with it in a fun, artistic way. Students will have access to new ways to learn and retain the information they will be learning in my classroom, which will allow them to become more successful academically. Having this resource available to my students will also allow them to participate in rich, meaningful conversations about the topic being presented once the videos have been viewed.

One of the biggest reasons why I think this is such a valuable resource is that on Flocabulary's site, a study has been shared that in a sample of 600 students, the study showed a dramatic increase in vocabulary proficiency, with the largest gains coming from students of a lower socioeconomic status, which is the socioeconomic status that the majority of my students fall under.
