The Description
With these funds I will...
My students will be able to study the art of photography. My scholars have explored many different artists, and are now studying perspective. We have learned about artists such as Van Gogh, Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, Mondrian, and O’Keeffe who each incorporated their different perspectives on life into their art. I would like my artists to do the same and capture each of their unique perspectives through photographs.
My scholars have never worked with this medium of art, and are eager to express themselves in different styles other than paint, pastels, and crayons. Following our recent lesson on art’s role in social protest, this opportunity would be a great gateway for artists to make a statement about recent events. I would also like to extend the use of the cameras to another lesson where the scholars will find capture places and people in their community that are of significance to them. They will use these photographs to create a class collage for the school hallway.
I will be purchasing (approx 10) packs of Fujifilm Disposable Cameras ($12.83 for a 2-pack).
These cameras would be a powerful tool for the students to explore their creativity, express their perspective, and find importance in themselves and/or community.
Back Up Plan
If we do not meet our goal, we will reduce the number of disposable cameras for each class, and study the techniques of photography through power points and videos versus hands on learning.
