Every year it seems like it is getting more difficult to get students excited about writing. It is is a critical skill that seems to get lost in the face of technology, video games, and social media. That is why I want to introduce my students to WriteSteps so they can focus on becoming empowered writers while also interacting with the technology they are familiar with.

WriteSteps is a digital curriculum for teachers that can be used with interactive whiteboards, visual projectors, computers, tablets, iPads, and document cameras. The curriculum fuses best practices such as the 6 traits of writing, Writer's Workshop, Multiple Intelligences, and Bloom's Taxonomy. This means that my students will be exposed to a robust writing curriculum without it feeling dry or boring.

The amounts calculated above are used to ensure the fundraising goal covers all fees. Actual fees will be calculated and collected on a per transaction basis, therefore total amounts may vary once the fundraiser ends. Calculated fees consist of a 10% sourcing fee, 5% fulfillment & labor fee and 3% processing fee.

1st grade funds needed for writing program

August 21, 2017

I am a 1st grade teacher at Walker Winter Elementary School in Canton, MI.  Our school is in the Wayne Westland School District.  Our funds were drastically cut for this coming school year and our building can't afford to renew our online portion of Write Steps.  I have seen so much growth in my students after using this program for kindergarten and then coming to me for 1st grade.  I am not willing to let go of that progress our students make with this program.  I am hoping to get funding to be able to renew my subscription to Write Steps for the coming school year.
