The Description

Teacher Bio- I, Mr. Jerry Anderson am a history and science teacher for the middle school students at Chandler Woods Charter Academy, in Belmont, Mi. I have been teaching here for 17 years and have been offering the Science Olympiad program from the start. Through the years I have watched our students grow and be challenged as a result of this program. I am so very excited to see what this year brings!

Description of Needs - Our students need building and educational materials for our Science Olympiad program in order to learn, build and compete in local, regional and state competitions. We also need to fund our own transportation and entry fees for competitions. This year all Michigan schools lost a grant that helped fund the needs of our program. This leads us to branch out and ask for help from our community and those who can offer support. Every dollar counts and is put towards the education of our incredible students!

                                            Our Students and their Future...

Chandler Woods students are amazing, creative, smart, kind and full of talent! They come from a variety of backgrounds and our goal is to give them a learning opportunity that surpasses our regular science curriculum. The Science Olympiad program is a team competition of a series of 23 events that pertain to various scientific disciplines including earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering.

We believe that providing this Science Olympiad program gives our students an advantage to learn and discover their field of passion related to the world of science that could someday turn into a career. Our students are eager to learn and put forth the extra time and commitment it takes to excel and prove their abilities.

Due to this passion our students have for science, we continue to offer the Science Olympiad program each year for our middle school (6th, 7th, and 8th graders). This program requires dedicated teachers, parents and students that get involved not only during the school day but after school and over the weekend in order to succeed and perform at high levels during competitions.

We as teachers and parents are thrilled that our students have this opportunity. We have 50 students who have signed up to participate this year and we have high hopes for another great year!

Back Up Plan

If we do not meet our goal, the money raised will still be used to help us on our journey. The administration at our school does support our club, however losing the Michigan State Grant funds adds extra stress to both teachers and parents to supply our students with what they need. We now look to you, our community of family, friends, and neighbors, to assist us with giving our students a better opportunity to succeed. Regardless of what we receive, all money raised will still be directed towards the registration, building supplies, and transportation that it allows us to for our team. Thank you for any assistance this year!

Fundraiser Updates (1)

Let's get this going!!!!

December 4, 2017

Hello!  Thank you so much to those that have already donated.... we can't thank you enough!

I wanted to make sure you know that ALL of the money (100%!) we raise through this fundraiser goes DIRECTLY to the Chandler Woods Science Olympiad Team!  It is used to cover the fees we incur by registering for practice tournaments, regional tournaments and the state finals. We use every penny of that money toward materials we need to be successful in events like Wright Stuff, Roller Coaster, Battery Buggy, Hovercraft, Towers, Thermodynamics and lab event supplies.  Our academic events need guidebooks and other study materials.

We continue to need your support.  We ask that each team member share this website with at least 20 of their friends and family.  When we each pitch in a little, we help A LOT! No amount of support is too small (nor too big!).

Please know that this isn't the ONLY way to donate... we'd be happy to take cash or checks as well.  :)  Please see Mr. Anderson, Mrs. Oostdyk, Mrs. Woodhouse, or Mrs. Haigler for more information.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!  Thank you!
