With these funds I will...

- Buy portable dance mirrors for our drama classroom space (seen in the pictures - painted by students)!

- We do not have the funds to hire a full-time dance teacher, but these mirrors will allow us to incorporate dance lessons into our current drama and P.E. curricula so that our students can learn through movement.

- Dance teaches character as well as health and creativity. These skills include self-control with work (intensive rehearsal), social intelligence (relying on a team to be successful), and zest (joy for life and learning!). 

- Students who are struggling with academics can feel successful in a movement class and then transfer their newfound confidence from dance into reading and math. 

- The least expensive portable glassless mirror (size 5'x6') costs $450.00. With some money left over from a grant, we will be able to purchase 1.5 mirrors. With a class of 30 students, though, we will need to cover twice as much space. That way, every student will be able to correct their form by watching themselves in the mirror as they learn dance technique. Along with shipping costs, $1,500 should cover the mirrors and shipping.
